Issue 03 Vol 7 March 2015

Issue-2-Vol-7-Mar-

Spring is here and with it comes physical awakening. This season is our opportunity to begin again, and to commit our resolutions into actions. This is also a season that brings with it a catalytic effect that spurs us to reflect and update our emotional and spiritual profile, so that we are ready to learn, to enjoy new experiences and to take on new possibilities. Therefore, in March’s issue, ViTRINE takes on the theme of going back to the basics; so that we re-learn how to do things with better and more perceptive approaches. On ViTRINE’s Living and Dining segment, we tried and tested modern methods of cooking eggs, a basic ingredient often surrounded by a plethora of rather inaccurate ‘ancestral myths’. For wedding photographer Mahesh Shantaram, spring brings new opportunity for him to explore the socio-economics of wedding parties in India as reflected in his photo series Matrimania. Our Gracious Living Guide takes a look at how we could do better as a friend in deed with simple advice from Bruce Feiler. In the beginning of March, Lidewij Edelkoort’s declaration that fashion is dead, is perhaps the most shared interview in the social media platforms. You may read the interview transcript on ViTRINE Tête-à-Tête . Making fashion news, with less controversy, is the basic and humble button which has been holding fashion together for centuries. The diplomat of modesty is finally given its due recognition at Museé des Arts Décoratifs with an exhibition that features over 3000 buttons from the collection of Loic Allio. Last but not least, 72 Smalldive kickstarts the season with a new range of sundry accessories in saffiano leather. Back to Basics, a collection of belts, wallets, and cardholders, is refreshed with bold classic palettes of red, navy blue, and brown, harking back to our loyal clientele’s desire for fine leather goods with unassuming elegance.
