Eataly, Rome

Eataly, a gourmet supermarket-food hall finally opens a flagship store in the capital of Italy. Located in the quartier of Ostiense at Piazzale XII Ottobre 1492, the supermarket is housed in a defunct railway station. The 4 storey building offers a wide selection of fine Italian food products, wine, and even cosmetics. We took a weekend to visit this new store and we were deeply impressed by the
wide selection of fine italian foods at affordable prices. The quality of cooked food and snacks available at their ‘open-concept’ food hall is commendable. As with all good habits, developing a heathy relationship with food starts with the young and we are pleased to find a salad garden plot that informs visiting children on the variety of salads and their origins. We would have preferred if the tellers at the cash till were less distracted. Eataly is opened daily between 10 am – 12 Midnite.
