Siir Ozbilge, a contemporary Turkish artist once based in Austria, returned to her hometown in Istanbul and initiated a neighbourhood children’s art program where artists from all over the world are invited to run a weekly 2-hour workshops with children living in Istanbul. At the end of each year, the children’s artwork are exhibited alongside with the artists’. ViTRINE visited one of their exhibition at Hayaka Art’s Gallery, in the summer of 2010, and we were touched by how these young participants were able to channel their fear, curiosity, and other common human expressions to produce of a collective starburst of invigorating art forms and works.
