Monocle’s October 2008 issue could not have been more timely. Amid the tainted milk scandal in China, the magazine hailed the rise of real provenance in Europe. With general unease of unscrupulous manufacturers on the rise, handcrafted products may benefit from the heightened sense of product discernment amongst consumer. It’s time to fly the flags artisan skills and craft products. Furthermore in this bleak retail climate, small-and-medium-sized stores will appreciate that handcrafted products, unlike mass produced ones, may be ordered in smaller quantities
